Very Rare S&W 59 9mm Devel Pistol Conversion Ultimate 59 Conversion by the late Charles Kelse in Athens, Ohio For Sale

This is a piece of history. A Devel Compact Combat conversion of a Smith & Wesson 59 full size 9mm pistol, done by the late Charles Kelsey back when there were no compact combat 9mm pistols available. Very few of these were done. This one was stamped with 'B031' on the frame to the right of the serial number during conversion. One of these was featured as the cover article of the April, xxxx edition of the Guns & Ammo magazine. This conversion followed up on the ASP conversions and featured many modifications to the large S&W 59, including but not limited to: shortening the factory slide and barrel by 1/2 inch, milling a groove behind the muzzle of the barrel and countersinking a barrel crown, removing the hammer spur so the hammer fits flush to the frame, cutting a channel in the front sight blade housing and installing a red insert, replacing the rear sight with an adjustable MMC sight, shortening the height of the grip frame, shortening the magazines to 13-round capacity, applying a Nickel finish, etc. Devel also provided nice leather holsters for carrying the gun and 2 extra magazines, and they are included in this auction. This pistol is in very good to excellent condition with various handling marks and some finish wear on the grooves of the mainspring housing at the back of the grip frame. The Devel emblem insert is missing from the left grip panel. Please refer to the detailed pics. Comes as shown with a pistol bag, leather holsters for the pistol and 2 extra magazines, and a total of 3 original Devel-modified 13-round magazines.
